    Shots fired. T3 338.

I took the new T3 338 (aka Clubber) out this evening and tossed a few downrange. Gotta tell you she roots ya pretty good. Nothing I can't live with. Weighing in at 7 3/4 lbs,I think I'm going to like it from a carry aspect. She bests my 300 Ultra M700 by a solid 2lbs. I like that!

I started with some 225 Hornadys to rub the burrs out of her. I like the 100 cnt box of bullets. Old fashioned I guess. The first 3 shots were 74gr of RL19 and Fed 215 primers. Number 1 went high left and a few adjustments printed 2 more low and center. Switching to 74.5gr of the same powder and primer, and a few clicks "up",we put the 3 in the bottom of the 10 ring. Promising first outing for a light weight magnum.

my son has a T3 lite in .300 wsm. It does not have a break and it will thump you. Does your .338 have a break?

I know a couple people are working on replacment magazines for the crappy tikka ones. The problem is Sako didn't design the T3 with a long enough length to accomidate the AICS type magazines.

I had a heck of a time with VLD 220 Grain bullets in the 30-06. I was using the rifle for F-Class Open and it's a good thing you have to single load them, because I could never get the cartridges short enough to work in the magazine.

In the 30-06 I was limited to the 165-190 depending on bullet type offerings. The 190 Lapua Scenar was the highest BC VLD I could load.

I don't know how much room the 338 has in the magazine, but let me know how heavier than 225 grain bullets work.

I have a ton of .338 bullets in Wyoming in our storage unit, I'd send you some for testing but I won't be back there until October.

I probably won't be shooting much over 225gr bullets in this 338. I'm thinking more along the lines of the lighter pills and a little better velocity. I'd like to give some of the monolithics a try in the lighter varieties. Given the magazine length I doubt there would be any benefit to the VLDs or similar.
