Quick shipment on the Eastmans order from last week!

    Mike, Ike and Guy,

I got the order and it took less than a week to get down here in Australia from Powell, thanks to the military postal system.

Watched Antelope Safari 2 and really enjoyed it. Best Eastmans' Dvd I have seen yet.

I haven't cracked the binder on the books or other DVDs yet, but you have me excited about my upcoming military retirement and my possible move back to my home state of Wyoming (job dependant).

Also enjoyed the quick read of the Sheep Magazine, and you guys did alright on the sheep rifle overview.

I have been more than vocal in my dislike of some of your firearms articles, but the magazine is improving every year.

I wish you would delete "harvest" from your magazines vocabulary, but beyond that I think you are doing a great job.

    Cheers from Downunder,

    Edelweiss!

Here's a couple Polls on the Term "Harvest" from another hunting forum.

Harvest is the catch phrase of American hunting TV. I have never heard Craig Boddington say it, and I am 100% posative that Elmer Keith, Warren Page, and Jack O'Connor never used it either.

How do you feel about the word "harvest" as concerned with hunting?
14 (10%) It's the right word from the dictionary.
    5 (4%) I like it!
90 (65%) I think it is politically correct bs.
11 (8%) I think it is politically correct and I use it to keep drama down.
19 (14%) I think it removes 250,000 years of human evolution from the hunting equation.

    And

On tv shows and DVDs a lot of them are using the term harvest, and I read in a lot of magazines where they use the term harvest. I have seen in written by the Boone and Crockett Club in all their magazines.

Personally for me I am against it, and I don't know where we got this idea or who started the trend.

I think it denotes an agricultural or forestry connotation, and takes away from the fact that the kill is as Jose Ortega Gasset said "One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted...If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job."

I would think that this concept of using the word "harvest" would have something to do with us being more politically correct. Which to put it bluntly I think is horse poop!

Results (91 votes counted so far):
Do you use the term "harvest" to represent taking the life of an animal?
18 (20%) No, never thought to.
    44 (48%) No, I don't agree with that concept.
12 (13%) Yes, of course I think it is the right thing to do.
0 (0%) Yes, I do it because I have heard/seen others do it and I think we should follow the same trend.
17 (19%) Anyone who uses the term harvest, does so at great detrement to our passion, and is a full on idiot!

That's too funny. I thought I was alone in thinking that. I don't subscribe so I haven't read the article but I also find the term, 'harvest' really annoying. Definitely politically correct b.s.

Eastmans "harvest" the heck out of stuff, but they are not alone on TV or in Print.

    Hmmm, interesting.

Maybe I am alone, but I don't find the word "harvest" offensive or inaccurate.

I believe my hunters ed instructor twenty years ago used the same word.

Sounds like another thing for hunters to argue about unnecessarily.

Agreed. There are better and more important fights out there to fight. This topic or poll has little to no win/win to it to enhance hunting or to bring more folks into the sport. It's another one of those topics that turn hunter against hunter and it's not all that productive.

I would have to agree with BB and Kevin. This is one of those topics that is going to get driven into the ground without making any headway.
