    Casper giants

Last time I was in Casper in November my parents had about 8 mature mule deer bucks that camped in their yard all winter during the daylight hours.

Some of the biggest bucks I have ever seen were on the West edge of town basically between the new Walmart and where the canyon narrows on the way to Alcova.

Crazy to think that so many huge bucks live in Casper.

What Casperites call Snob Hill near the College also has a ton of resident old-guy bucks that hang out in the front yards of those big houses all winter long.

Unfortunetly for the old man they don't typically shed their antlers in the yard.

Anyway just a heads up, if your in town next Winter and you want to photograph some big deer.

I think it is great to have bucks like that in town.

We had a huge whitetail that lived on my grandparents ranch in Montana. Could never find him during the hunting season, never found his sheds, he was a ghost.

I live in a suburb of Kansas City, but my house backs up to about 5,000 acres of state forest that only allows a short, controlled archery and muzzleloader hunt. The woodlot grows some enormous bucks, and occasionally one shows up behind my fence. A few years back, I had a big 150" deer trying to attack my deer target that was leaning against the fence. And, about 5 years ago, a local took a picture of a buck that was rumored to possibly score higher than the current MO state record, which would put it in contention with the Hanson buck.

    City deer get big!

On my little 3 acre slice of heaven i had an apple orchard where every afternoon we'd get gads of deer eating or just lounging, waiting for the apples to fall. We had our fair share deer, bears , possums, raccoons, and dogs all waiting for the apples to drop. Never could connect on this huge blacktail/mulie during the season. He always showed himself after the season, and literally lay down at my kitchen window. Really old warrior used to whoop it up on some rather large, but young, bucks. He would get this madman type of look when in the rut. Kinda glad nobody every bagged him, he has some great genetics that he "passed" around.

I live in casper and these are a few shots of city limit bucks i have taken, seen bigger but didnt have a camera. they know where they are safe. There is talks of opening up area 67 for archery which would be pretty interesting.

In Golden CO, some very respectable bucks come out of the hills to brouse on the neighbors lawns. In the dusk, the big boys stroll on down the road with not a care in the world! Great to watch these giants until my wife asks how come it takes me days way up in the mountains to tag out when they're "right here".
