Steamboat Springs area for otc archery elk

Anyone have any advice about archery elk hunting around the steamboat springs units. I typically hunt the Gunnison basin but would like to see some different country this year. Any advice?

I hear the winter was really hard on them over there but I'm not totally sure. I think it was the year before this last winter.

I have never hunted that area. I have heard people talk about it and it sounds like there is a good amount of public land around there. Give the warden and biologist a call and ask them some questions. The number is on the Colorado DOW website.
