Salida/ Buena Vista Area- Meat packers

Does anybody have any info on who may pack out meat from the Buena Vista/ Salida area? Will be archery hunting elk in that area in september and looking to meet any potential packers before the hunt when I go on a pre-season scouting trip.

Hey! I was up at 5am. Old guys only need 4 hours sleep.

I'm not a good source for finding meat packers, because I do my own. Too poor to have it done. As far as I know. There's no meat packers in the immediate area. I've heard some individuals doing it, but I don't know who they are. You may have to travel to find one. I believe Pueblo has one, but that's a drive. Scanga in Salida is the only meat packer around, and they don't do wild game.

    Sorry I couldn't help more.

Is that because you guys have to get up 6 times a night to use the bathroom? Sorry I had to throw that out there.

Sorry, bad wording on my part, not that type of meat packer, I also do my own processing. Im talking about a guide/outfitter, cowboy, somebody with horses that would help haul an elk out of an area if it's hot (seems likely) and I can't get it out in time by myself.

I don't seem to be much help here. I always do that part myself too. You have a much better chance of finding that though. This is horse country, and a bunch of outfitters that would probably do that. I'd start to Google, and i'll snoop around meanwhile.

I can last if I don't have my normal bowl of cereal before bed.

I know there's a guy here locally that would come get the meat, but then he wants to butcher it too.
