Mule Deer/Elk in unit 50 possibly 501?

may be public/private in 50/501, it's a maybe so far.
also possibly units 8 or 191 near red feather lakes? this would be public only.

I haven't been able to find much about them.
It says elk isn't OTC which makes me wonder how many are even there? if any?

Mule deer would be the focus however, but curious what the trophy potential is, or what's common?
What's this region like, the terrain? I suppose it varies?

That unit gets a lot of deer hunters, try the buffalo peaks wilderness area within that unit for deer. As for elk, here is a recent thread that may help!http://www.eastmans.com/forum/showth...0483#post30483

Buffalo peaks is actually in unit 49 not 50. Unit 50 has a lot of private land as it's in south park. If you aren't familiar with south park terrain it's like out east, mostly flat grassy. It's mostly antelope country. There are some areas that hold elk and deer too. The far east side of the unit is treed, more like what you'd expect. 501 has some good deer hunting in it. The Lost Creek Wilderness is in this unit. I would try the burn area on the far east side. I don't have much experience with the rest of the unit. If you have more specific questions, I might be able to help.
