I'm planning my first Colorado elk hunt in august. I was going to buy the eberlestock blue widow pack. But is that to much pack for a 5 day diy hunt?

It looks like it will collapse pretty small to be a day pack or expand large enough to pack camp miles into the back country and weighs around 7lbs so it should work out just fine. I chose my pack to be a Kuiu Icon 6000 which weighs in around 5lbs. I can tighten it up small if I am doing day hunts and if I kill it has no problem expanding big enough to get even a bull hind quarter plus my equipment out. I see this is your first post so welcome to the forum. Im fairly new myself and have learned there are a lot of knowledgeable, helpful folks on here. Happy hunting and good luck.

I in no way, shape, or form think that is too much pack. That pack has all the features any hunter with an ambition to live out of what they can tote around on there sholders could ever want. If you look at there web site they have a video where they explain all the ins and outs of the pack and the accessories they offer for it. It sold me.

You can add on the spike duffel back for an additional 2,000 ci or so, if you desired.. I added it to my pack, and it will haul far more than I could ever carry.

I agree with Fink about the spike duffel and would HIGHLY recommend it. I got the bigger one and am very glad that I did.
