Valle Vidal - Rifle 2nd Season

Hello,
I have drawn a 2nd season Elk tag for Valle Vidal in NM. I am heading over to NM in August for a scouting trip and was hoping for some specific information on where and how to hunt the area.

Any info you can provide would be appreciated.

I have been on 3 hunts there with family, one for my dad and two others with my cousin and uncle. Each time we got a bull over 310. If you don't have horses, you might need to go make friends with someone who does. The main place we hunt in there is a 2 hour ride and a 1/2 hour walk. You need to get as far away from the roads as possible and you will see elk. All of the guided hunters will be on horse, meaning they will get further back, with less walking. Are you out of NM?
