Tarptent Scarp 1

I beleive this shelter was mentioned in another thread. I wanted to start a thread specefic to it to see if I can get anymore feedback.

What say you guys, decent or not for a "do all" shelter? Advertised as a four season tent, weighs 3lbs...

I was seriously considering this tent when I was in the market, I decided to go with golite shangr la because I think it is more versatile. It can be a 3lb tent, or less depending on what I want to pack weather depending. Just my opinion. Both are awesome tents and you can't go wrong.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into the Golite a little more. I see they are on clearence for $120. That adds a huge pro to the Golite.

How long have you had yours? Experiences with it in wet and/or cold weather?

I ended up getting the Scarp 1 and tested it out a couple nights recently. It got a bit chilly at night in Western ND over the weekend. Friday night I believe it was in the upper teens and Saturday was around 27. I also had a BA Mystic SL 15 bag and the BA Insulated Air Core pad. All in all I thought the gear worked well. When I woke up in the AM's there was of course condensation in the tent, and it was all iced up. With the Scarp 1 it's basically a double wall. You sleep in an enclosed nest inside the tent. Most all the condensation was between the nest and the outer tent. Set up and tear down of the Scarp 1 is quick and easy.

I will also add, I really like the BA bags as well as the Air Core pad. They work well together. I can see that I will need to do something in the future though, for the colder nights. I was at about the limits of them for my liking. Or buy a warmer bag.
