One of the Greatest Trophy Units to Apply to? In your opinion..

I'm just about 17, I figure if my friend and I start applying for a trophy unit now, when we are in our early 20s we can get the tag. I'm not talking about a 20 year wait obviously. Just like 5-10 years. Any advice? The sheer number of units is just overwhelming. We could care less what state it's in. We were thinking Utah or CO. Thanks in advance.

Just so you know. That wouldn't be enough time to get enough points in Colorado for a top unit. Better look to another state in that time frame.

Buy and read mike eastmans elk hunting book. those eastman boys have it down. put in in more then one state every year and after a few years youll be drawing tags like a mad man. unitl then good luck and dont shy away from otc tags. monsters get shot every year this way.

Accumulate some points that allow you to get in to some good units but DO NOT point chase to get the best tag in each state. Choose different weapons for different units and be proficient with all and you will put yourself into a good hunt ( I dont think there is a bad hunt) almost every year. As ivorytip says " Monsters get shot every year", It might as well be you! Good luck and have fun.

Unit 111-222 late for Nevada. They broke up that unit this year but any area in these units are great but it needs to be late. Good luck

If you like UT, go Henery Mts. for deer and the San Jaun for elk. You may have to wait much longer than five to ten, but your young just do it.

Old Hunter, you're beating that joke to death.

To the original poster, Wyoming Area 58. You get a two month season to sort through monster bulls.

My first post was serious. I just followed up Ivory's lead after that.

The OP has 1 post, so I figured he hadn't heard we have no elk yet.
