    Antelope watering holes

Im going antelope hunting for the first time this fall and was wondering what kind of water they prefer. All the tv shows i have seen, the hunters set up on small ponds or water tanks. My question is will antelope drink from a river or stream or moving water?

Ya know...I am sure they would, but in my experience, I actually think antelope prefer stagnant water.

Depends on how thirsty they are!!! Just kidding. Most of the water around where I hunt is pretty yucky, no real tanks as such. Not much livestock so I guess that why no developed water sources.

Excellent question, there is little running water in the zone I'll be hunting lopes in this year and I have spent quite a bit of time looking for water on Google Earth. Those will be the places I first check when I finally get to mu hunt zone.

For me I've never seen them drink from a pond or tank. They have always drank from the seeps leaking from the tanks or were the water is overflowing and running away from the water sorce in small little pools before it disappears into the dirt. I made the mistake and set up on a tank and 40 yards and never had a goat come in closer then 80 yards because they drank as far away from the tank as possible.

I watched them drinking from the North Platte river last year so at least in that area they will use moving water.
