what to expect in the crazies

would like to know what the weather conditions, on average, would be during the second week of nov. looking at entering on the east side, also what to expect as far as mule deer and elk locations at that time of year, and is the hunting pressure unbearable or tolerable. any info would be much appreciated

Average highs are in the high 30's or low 40's and expect lows around 0. Also expect a few windy days. Get as high as you can and glass. It is hard to tell where the game is going to be. There are a lot of factors that will change their location. There are definitely animals in there. You'll have to be careful of all the private land on the east side.

a concern of mine, is if their is a lot of snow that the animals will all be pushed to lower elevations and out of the public land, or should that not be a problem

It's hard to predict. I think you'll still be able to find a few bulls, but if there is a lot of snow the deer will most likely be at lower elevations. Have a plan B if there is a lot of snow. The Little Belts are a little lower in elevation and may not have the same snow depth. This would be one example of a backup plan. There are a lot of options. As long as there is less than 18 inches of snow, I think you still have a chance at finding a bull. You'll definitely work for it.

Bring chains. My truck was stuck up there for a week last november because no one could pull it out.

i went to the crazies last year, i found the mtn range to correctly named. The hunting pressure was CRAZY! never seen so much hunting pressure in my life, ridiculous. counted 25 camps on one road. never ever going back to that place.

went in on the north and backpacked all the way to the northeast side above private inaccessible land. even in the "remote" areas there were other guys backpacking and horsepacking. one guy was running some kind of permanent horse camp aka illegal outfitting. this was from forest lake road.
