    My Sons first elk

My son is 13 and I took him out for his second rifle season this year. We woke up and it was 19 outside and snowing in Southeast Wyoming. We drove up into the mountains and had been walking about 1.5 miles before we came upon this guy. If he had been much father away I doubt we would have seen him due to the snow. Needless to say he is very happy and I am very proud to be able to give him this opportunity.

First elk always will be remembered, especially considering it looks extremely cold! Congrats!!!

Congratulations to your boy on his first elk! Looks pretty frigid, but that's when it get's good hunting for those darn things. I love it. What did your son use on his bull?

He was really pumped. Just not pumped enough to carry a quarter. Lol. He is using a savage 243. He has been shooting it for 3 years. He shot it twice. Both in the sweet spot. Second one dropped him to the groud.
