    Kaycee Area

Oct 15th - 21st my family (my Mom/Dad, my wife and 5year old) will be hunting Antelope in Unit 21 and Deer Region Y. We will be staying at the campground in Kaycee and although the my boy tolerates hunting his main goal in life is to fish.
Is it correct that youth under 14 don't need a license, but my wife or whoever is with him will need to be licensed even if they aren't fishing? Also looking for some pointers on where a kid can catch some fish, doesn't matter what or how big, numbers are more important than anything. He is pretty patient and comfortable with all types of fishing from bait to fly fishing (yes he can fly fish!). Just need to pack his gear and want to take as little as possible that will reasonably ensure his success.

Any deer and antelope pointers welcome too!

    Here he is with Grandpa.

How did you hunt go as my group of 5 hunters were there at the same time. We camped a the KC R.V park and hunted Unit 21. Bigggest issue is the amount of private land mixed with public. We did harvest 3 deer and 3 antelope but nothing big on the public land. Did you get a private land trespass?

We did good, but hunted extremely hard. The mix of public and private was tough. The folks at the RVpark were great and my son made some new buddies. He can't wait to go back!

My Dad got a doe mule deer on private land on the last evening we hunted. We paid the landowner $50 and when we got the doe he gave us the money back. It worked out great cause my Mom and boy got to go and sit in some blinds he had set up on the hay field. If I were to do it again I would focus on deer the first couple of days. I ended up getting a forky on the last day. It was a fun hunt all in all. With the exception of the doe on private everything else was public.
