I wanted to know anyones thoughts on buying a landowner tag in this unit. I see that it is a blue chip rating according to eastmans. I think it is really reasonably priced. Has anyone ever hunted this unit?

I have looked into it, not seriously, but for a few hours. From what I dug up you really need private land access.

I have hunted it. I parked my motorhome at Fence Lake. Randy Chavez is a guide from Red Hill that I made friends with and at that time his dad had land in a program that allowed me to hunt private land if that land was enrolled. I saw a 400 inch 8x8 that Randy's wife had also seen. That bull was on hwy36 before the intersection of 117, i guess it was on the devide. You can find elk on public land. The outfitter at Quemado even let me hunt some of his lease and he has a lot of the unit leased. I would love a doover. I cant think of a better unit for big bulls anywhere.
