You can use a bow, but you are required to purchase an archery stamp ($30). What I've done in the past is hunted Region D the last 3 days of September with a bow. It is an excellant scouting oppurtunity while hunting. Then when rifle opened on October 1st we took our rifles out. Do you & your brother have any points? Also I believe a crossbow is legal for anyone.

Good point DaveZ. Depending on the region, rifle could open on Oct. 1st or 15th.

DaveZ, How was the weather up there? Did you get any snow?

There was some snow that fell in the higher elevations, but nothing at the base.

We talked to a FG rep and he said the extremely dry conditions, even in the mountains, may have played a roll in pushing some deer down earlier than normal.

That worked out good for you guys! You hunting whitetails now? Pre rut is just now kicking in here. Muzzleloader opens this Saturday. Looking forward to that, been bowhunting. killed some does, but haven't had any big bucks in range yet.

    Good job, great bucks!
A bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work.
