    Region C Wyoming

Looking to apply for a region C tag for mule deer this year, just wanted to get some input on how the mule deer herd is doing in that area. Any information for this region would be greatly appreciated. Also looking to get an antelope tag for either unit 18 or 19 to go along with the mule deer tag.

Hunted Region C back in 2007 I think... Here's a link to the hunt. If this is your first time to the unit, I'd be glad to share some public land hotspots that we found deer in after 10 or 12 days of rifle season pressure already. PM me.

Hey, sorry to eves drop on your conversation but I was searching for information on Region C and this forum came up. My father, brother, brother inlaw, and myself had a mule deer trip planned for Oct 1-14. Unfortunately, our rancher just called to inform us he was not going to allowing anyone on the ranch due to the dry weather and fear of fires whether from camp or muzzle blast.....not much we can argue. Not wanting to waste over over $1,500 in deer and antelope tags we thought we'd look into public land. Any suggestions or hotspots would be greatly appreciated. Good luck with your season.

i would suggest buying some BLM maps for the Region C area. It shows the public lands open. Make sure to call the local warden to make sure access to the area your looking at is attainable. The area north of Gillette by the town of Weston. It is part of the Thunder Basin National Grassland. You can buy that map from the Forest Service. A person I once knew hunted up there for years, and always did well. He said the weekends got some heavey pressure, but during the week and later in the season, they didnt see too many hunters. He now hunts on a ranch by Sheridan. There is also some pockets of public land north of I-90 and east of Sheridan. There isnt huge tracts of land, but lots of smaller tracts that will take time to hit. Its kind of late in the game to really get in depth.........but I would start with buying BLM maps in those areas and go from there. good luck!

any other Region C hunters out there? Leaving the 16th, and hunting the 17th, 18th, 19th, and till noon on the 20th if needed. Know the drought is bad, and also heard deer numbers are a tad lower than usual.........but I dont care! The 16th cant come soon enough for me!

Would love to see some pictures. I will be posting some when we get back.

I took this buck on public land down in Region C this year. Like everyone else has said, those BLM maps come in handy.
