We use a Lightforce spotlight with a red lens here in Australia. Works perfectly, but it's heavy.
Spotlighting is a ton of fun, where legal. But you really need to watch what you are doing. Some friends shot a $35,000 angus bull that was turned and sitting in a big patch of brush. In the spotlight he looked like a wildboar, distances become very muted and the light doesn't show you the whole picture. I think your mind also plays tricks on you.
Keep that in mind. Was a very expensive night for some friends of mine, the land owner shrugged his shoulders and said " these things happen" he had done the same thing a few years before. My friends still had to pay off the bull though.
