Tower blinds, private land and hunting.

Finally at a point in my life where I will get to settle down and buy a piece of property, we don't 100% know where we are going to move to as it really depends on jobs.

My goal is 50-300 acres and to put up a couple of tower blinds on it over game trails or a big clearing.

States with land owner tags look pretty inviting.

Good Luck... I am in the Same Boat right know. Hope to find a place Soon... I would Love 50 to 300 acres myself.. But, I will have to Settle with 15 to 30. Closer to 30 would be Better.... I really need a Place to Hang a TreeStand and Put up a Blind... The Only other request I have with it that it is 90% Wooded and it is a place where I can shoot a Shotgun and a Bow.........

I think the key to the future at least for a while is going to be land owner tags.

As for the size of the property, it just depends on what you are going to do with it.

Eastern woodlots, you could probably get by on a pretty small acreage.

My land lord in Washington state killed a lot of blacktails by feeding quail. The deer ate a lot of what he put out for quail. Never would have though that deer would be interesed in bird seed on an Island covered with green grass. Maybe it was the protein?

Depending on who you talk to supplimental feeding of wildlife is either the bain of our problems or the greatest solution ever. And varies from very illegal to quite legal.

As a kid growing up we had elk, deer, moose and antelope all use our livestock salt blocks. We never hunted over them, but they did bring wildlife to the property.

Consider states with 100% draw every year even if they don't have landowner tags.

not sure what states or part of the country you're thinking about but here in the midwest most states residents get to hunt every year.

It will be someplace between the Rockies and Sierras. However, I really want an interpretive ranger/recreation planner job with the USFWS, BLM, Park Service, Bureau of Rec, or Army Corps of Engineers. So I'd take a job in a less than ideal spot to later move into someplace like Yellowstone, Glacier, Zion, Big Bend, Devils Tower, King Salmon.

Heck I'd even take a job in the Ozarks to later get into a job in my sweet Wyoming home later on.
