    Oklahoma Youth Controlled Hunt

My nephew Colby drew out at USDA Grazinglands Research Lab. It is a special hunt for youth only managed by Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. There is a two deer limit the first one is antlerless only & the second one is either sex. Colby killed a doe Friday evening at 259 yards & his buck Saturday morning at 106 yards. His buck scored 130.125" & weighed 142 lbs field dressed. He is having a dream season! Second good buck this year. He has killed 2 bucks & three does this fall. Last spring he killed two big gobblers over 10" beards & over 22 lbs. My wife keeps harassing me about getting whooped up on by a kid! I keep telling her I'm the guide! LOLDSCN1001.jpg

Congratulations, nice looking buck. It looks like your nephew and you are doing a fine job of keeping the freezer stocked with meat.

Yes, it is the El Reno hunt. It is a really good hunt, they are doing a great job managing the deer herd. I put the older kids in for it & Salt Plains. Minimum age for those two areas is 12. The younger kids I put in for the Core of Engineer Hunts. Texoma, Tenkiller & Keystone.

That happens to someone every year. I've had several people tell me the same thing. That is the only down fall to the hunt. It is the best youth hunt out there imo.
