I am looking at going in country pretty deep in Wyoming NW and would like to take a sat phone for emergency. I have a SPOT but would also like to have a phone. Does anyone have any experience with renting one? I don't want to buy it because I will use it just once a year and then maybe not every year so renting is the way I want to go.

I rented one this year for my 10 day Idaho trip and was glad I did. Look at www.satellitephonesolutions.com they were the cheapest that I found and they were very helpful as this was my first time renting a phone.

Did you ever use it while you were out? I was reading that iridium were the best to use as there are more sats.
