    Flat tops wilderness

Any thoughts on archery hunting the flat tops wilderness. I put in for a point this year to draw a tag in the area for future hunt. After looking at the MRS it doesn't list any of these units as top areas. I am hearing that it is still heavily hunted and maybe better areas. If you were able to draw a tag for one of the units that is not over the counter and could pack in off the path, would it be worth it or better to spend time elsewhere?? Figured since they are not over the counter it may be good, but maybe not the case???

Not being an OTC unit can also mean it can't take any pressure. As in...not enough elk.

I have never hunted there but I hear it gets pounded with people. Check the Colorado DOW statistics and look at how many tags they give out for each season between deer and elk.
A bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work.

Hey WestnVY I am actually in the process of planning a DIY hunt to that area for next year. It seems like based on research there is a lot of opportunity there. I am having the same thoughts as you regarding packing in and escaping all the other hunters. I would really be interested to hear some of your thoughts or plan for the area and I could share some of what I have picked up.
