Utah application question

This is probably a stupid question, but wanted others input before I call Utah game and fish.. Last year, I bought my non res license, and applied on February 13th. This year, the application period opens on 02.01. Per the big game guide book, your license is good for one full year, and as long as you apply before that year is up, you don't have to buy another license.. So, I can apply for two years, on just one license, provided I apply before 02.13?? That doesn't seem right, but that's the way I'm reading it..

From page 13 of the big game guide:
Be sure to take a quick look at the date on
your license before you apply for any permits or
points. As long as your license is valid on the date
you submit your application, you don’t have to
purchase a new license for the actual hunt.
For example, assume that your license expires
on June 25, 2013. If you apply before that date,
you do not have to purchase a new license for
your hunt in the fall. All hunting and combination
licenses are valid for 365 days from the date
of purchase.

It seems rather dishonest to get to apply for two years, with the purchase of only one license..

That's what i did two years ago. Had to buy a license last year. Will try it again this year, nice savings. I would think they would catch on and change it, so keep an eye open for changes. Huntin Fool magazine mentioned it awhile back and that's why I checked it out.

I've been buying a license every other year for a long time, I wish all the states would have this option, it really helps when you grab points only. It would be even better if you only had to buy the license if you were to draw a tag. However I heard this was all going to change.

Yep, you found one of the best "loop holes" out there. Just apply late one year, and early the following year for the cost of one hunting license.

I intentionally apply every other year to save money. As many states & tags I apply for, I need to save every chance I get! Don't feel guilty Fink, I've been doing it for years! Enjoy it while it last.

Sweet deal, I will fully take advantage of it, just thought it was an odd setup.. I'm glad to see that others have done it for several years, I would have hated to draw the tag and then have them tell me I couldn't have it because I didn't buy a new license!

Untill it changes, it's the real deal. In 2012 i drew my general deer tag with the license from 2011.
