Looking into trying Aoudad hunt in New Mexico in a couple years. Are they plenty on public land or would private be best. any info would be helpful. Would consider Texas also but figured it would be more expensive. Thanks

It's an easy tag to draw but a hard one to fill. Unless you are from there you are in for a steep learning curve on where to look. Everyone I know, myself included, tend to keep good spots very secret. You will need a map of all BLM lands in the area you are going to hunt and do a lot of homework. Season opens this Friday, Feb 1st and I can't wait. I'll go ahead and wet your appetite with a few pictures I took:

Good private land hunts from what I have seen are around $3000. If you want one over 30 inches, this will provide you the best opportunity, either in New Mexico or Texas. This guy has a great rep on one of the big international hunting boards:
