    Wyoming Area 87 vs 119 vs 125?

I have been researching which unit to apply for deer hunting in WY this year. It is my last year as a non-resident with max points, but having moved to WY last year, I'll be a resident as of this spring. So I want to use my points wisely. I believe I can draw area 87, 119, or 125 in either the regular or special draw. Any advice on these areas? Anyone hunted them this past fall and can give me some insight on the population and caliber of deer?

    Thanks in advance.

I hunted unit 63 for antelope in September which is 87 for deer. I saw lots of does & small bucks. There is a good deer population in that area. I heard it was a good unit, but never have deer hunted it.

Access is tricky in 87 and is only getting worse. Something to consider....

I hunted 119 in 2011 with my dad. We thought it was ok. I had 2 buddies hunt 119 in 2010 and they saw a lot more deer than we did. And they both killed better deer than we did.

I have seen some monster mule deer in area #87 while elk hunting (#22) Where I hunted the terrain was either straight-up or straight down. Really tough hunting where I was, the other poster was correct, lots of private land; and some that area ranchers want you to think is private...but isn't. Invest in a good GPS and map so you're sure of the land status. I can't seem to draw a deer tag there though... Good luck if you do decide to apply for it!

I applied for 10 years before drawing one. Good luck though.
