Elk are tough animals. They do fine in winter. It's the deer that can't handle hard winters.

It got like 30 below there a few weeks back, but I don't think the snow depth is enough to freak out about now. Not great but could be a lot worse.

We are far below average for snowfall on the front range but the back to back snows we just got will help out. Maybe some more on Tuesday evening will help out. We need a couple of big wet ones in the next couple of months and I will feel better about the upcoming summer.

In the SW part of the state we are about normal in the drainages that go west to the Colorado River.
