Fall bear hunts

Go for it....it use to be a gaurnteed tag here in Oregon but it has gotten pretty popular the last few years. You will enjoy it I am sure. It has been my 3rd favorite for sometime now behind the big two (elk/Deer).

You can use calls to bring them in. Same calls you use for coyotes will work.

Another way is to find some berry bushes, and sit near them.

Another way is to sit on a gut pile.


Just remember in Colorado you have to bring out all the edible meat, and the head and hide for inspection.

Would that be considered baiting by sitting on a gut pile? I have no idea just curious.

Nope! It's natural, and will be there if you hunt or not. It's a grey area if you kill an animal just for the purpose of sitting on the gut pile.

Pretty fun hunt. Find where oak, aspen, pinyon and water come together and you will find bears.

BTW you are in a great bear area. 30 and 21 are great. Grand Mesa is great and the Uncompahgre is great.

I have been eyeing both those units. Can't decide which one to choose yet...
