I am looking at the harvest statistics for unit 74 mule deer and in 2010 this unit's high country early season rifle kill dropped by about 70%.
Can anyone state what happened that year to drive such a drastic drop in the harvest?

I would guess snow. Happened to us after saving up a few points for a high country above timberline hunt it snowed about 8-10 inches before opening weekend. The deer were down out of the basins and off the tops, made it tough hunting. Never saved up for a above timberline hunt again.
