Savage trigger job?

Knew Allen Timney when I lived in California (another life!!) when his shop was in South Gate. He put a trigger on my Springfield sporter, was (and still is) a great setup. Don't know much about them now as he sold out and the business was moved to Az.

I knew Al in the 70's too. I was on the Trap Shooting Tour then making some good money. Al used to have a trailer he pulled to all the shoots that was a complete machine shop. I was living in Redondo Beach then, and would go see All all the time. He was a good guy, and made a great trigger. He did all the work on my trap guns then. (triggers, chokes, and stock fit)

Sounds like you got all the answers you needed, but I will throw in my two cents anyways. I put a Timney trigger in my Remington 7mm-08 a few years back, and I am a novice when it comes to gunsmithing. Surprisingly, it was real simple to install and I went from a 7lbs pull to 1.5lbs. First time at the range my group changed from about 3-5" to around 3/4". I love the nice, clean break of the trigger. My vote is DIY with a Timney, but like everybody else said, little one will be able to adapt to which ever trigger you go with.

I agree, the Timney triggers are great and easy to adjust. I have them on my rem 700's and they can be adjusted from 1-4 lbs. by the way great looking rifle! I bought the same rifle for my niece last year and she loves it. The trigger on her rifle isnt that bad, the pull is about 4 lbs, but its crisp. The rifle is a great shooter, I reloaded some 120 Nosler BTs at about 2800 FPS. The recoil was mild and it shot almost a hole group at 100 yards. She killed a nice forkie last season with it, the buck went right down.

Used to shoot a lot of trap at the old Dominguez and Rancho Angeles Ranges in the 50's & 60's, then after they were gone at the Winchester West range. I lived in Downey. No shooting ranges left there now....too damn many people!
