elk hunting spotting scopes

I am looking at the vortex viper does anyone have this. scope? The non hd version. also looking at the vortex nomad.$500 is all I can spend so please don't suggest a $2000 swarovsky. I looked at some at cabelas but you can't tell much in the store. mountain use is the primary purpose. thanks in advance

I have used the hd version. No complaints from these untrained eyes. Are you lookin at the 65?

I have a Nomad. It is a great scope for the price it runs as well as the packability of it being a 60 power scope. I would recommend it.

I too have a Nomad..I took the Viper and Nomad outside at Cabelas in Reno and tried them out side by side. I could tell the difference, but to me the difference wasn't enough to justify 4x the price! I couldn't hold still enough to take advantage of the bigger lens anyway. I bought the angled version.

Another thought is the leupold ventana how does this compare to the nomad
