Here is a old photo of me in 1962 with a Montana buck. My dad would take my brother and me out of school for two or three weeks every fall to hunt starting in 1961. I missed a few years while in college but I still love to get out-of-state every year. Tougher now with the tag situation. Still, the highlight of my year.

Thanks! No, I don't have the rack anymore...not sure what happened to it. Back then we were elk hunters and there were lots of deer. Funny though, there were very few elk then. Many times we did not see a elk during the whole hunting trip!

Love the pic Moose. I wish I could have talked my dad into doing that when I was in school. Now I think he wishes the same thing. He never hunted out of state until 2009 and now that's all he talks about.

Here are a couple of photos of my Great Grandfather from the 50's. I stall have the 4x5 buck (middle buck) hanging in my house. I think I have some other photos I'll try and dig up from my Grandfather and Great Grandfather's hunting trips.

I wanted to share a story with you. In this thread, I shared a picture and a post about my first hunting trip when I was 10 years old when my family hunted with Doug Vaden in Alaska. I was just contacted today with the following private message (personal info removed):

"Doug is now age 92 and when i spotted his name here, i printed the story... when i read to him at a get together tears came to his eyes... Doug is a very active gentleman and has so much joy in his eyes as well as his heart.... he has stories to tell of his life.. and you were also in them... What could be the possibility of meeting Doug sometime in the future.. he would so love it... thank you dearly... or maybe even a phone call... he now lives in......

..... is my cousin and has his phone number... please call .... and get hold of Doug... he has a hearing aid... so will likely be some communication challenge.... It would be so beautiful for him to know you have enjoyed Hunting so much...
    thank you,

    ......

ps we have photos of your hunting.."

What a great story and the chance to reconnect because of this forum.

Wow UH. That is really awesome. You really never know how you may impact someone else's life. I'm sure that mr. Vaden never thought he would become part of a permanent memory of yours, just like you've become part of his. What a great story.
