You're free to buy anything you like. I was just making a point that a Toyota is not an American car. If that matters?

According to this article, a Chevy Silverado is only 62% comprised of American parts vs. a Toyota Tundra at 75%. A GMC Sierra is only 62%, a Ram 1500 is 70% and an F-150 is 75%, same as the Tundra.

That leaves just the profit and OH is right, that goes to a Japanese company, but they are providing Americans with jobs and I don't mind them making a profit on that. Plus, as I said, I think you'll spend less on repairs than on Ford or Chevy trucks. It all works for me.

Interesting stats and good info!! Im not trying to say Toyota is a US company at all. But some US companies are not all US anymore either. Recently read somewhere Chrysler is majority owned by Fiat.

I read or heard somewhere that Toyota is bringing out the 2014 Tundra with a diesel engine and it will be sold in the USA.

Ugh, my experience couldn't have been more different. I worked at two different firms that were both using Tundras for their fleet trucks. Both companies got fooled once and were then finished with Tundras.

Those trucks were constantly in for repair and the motors really got tired after a couple years of hauling survey equipment around. It is all Fords and Chevys now.

Just to add another wrinkle, all these companies are publically traded on the NYSE. How many Americans own Toyota or Honda stock? How many Middle-Eastern hedge funds own Ford or GM? Actually, it wouldn't surprise me if the Chinese owned a majority share of Ford and Toyota. I'm not sure it matters where corporate HQ is anymore.

I like the new F-150 with the V6, decent mileage and I don't really need more power than that. I just have to wait a few years until they get a bit older -- I never buy anything new or near new.
