Well guys I heard back from ranch owner in Wyoming about the rattlesnake situation. She says well we have shale rock cuts and cactus so yes we have rattlesnakes. They are definetly around and you have to watch for them. Outstanding!! I just "acquired " a pair of Blackhawk knee pads and I'm not going to be using them. Not crawling with snakes lol.

Made 2 12 gauge chamber gauges today. The short one is for 2 1/2, 2 5/8, 2/3/4, and the long one is for 2 1/2, 2 5/8, 2/3/4, 3, 3 1/2. The long one works great for SXS and single shots but I quickly realized you cant get it in most pumps short of taking the barrel off, so I made the shorter one too.

I assume you are wanting to measure the chamber length of various shotguns. You probably really didn't need to make the longer one as 3 & 3 1/2 are more modern creations in 12 ga. and all the barrels I've seen are factory marked with their chamber length. There are cases where some 2 3/4 have been rechambered to 3" and not remarked....I have one!

Lots of the old pre 1900 stuff is not marked at all, especially the black powder shotguns.

Yes CC I want to check older shotguns and I realize most 3, 3 1/2 chambers are new enough to be marked. I really dont need the 3 1/2, just made the long one to measure any chamber. It works great for brake actions. Then made the shorter 2 3/4 so I could get it in a pump action since the main thing I wanted to check was my 1897. Im going to make them for other gauges too. Pretty easy to do with a lathe. Most new ones you can buy are only marked for 2 3/4 and up and wouldnt fit in a pump so thats why I made them. Got a bright Idea to sell them so I put them up on ebay for $25 so will see what happens.
