    Wyoming Pronghorn Health

I'm heading to the Casper Wyoming region this September and was curious how the pronghorn are doing this summer? I know last summer was rough due to the drought just curious how things are doing this summer.

From what I hear, just about the same. Still in drought. Got some rain, not enough though.

I live in Gillette - the antelope around here are doing great. The grass is so high you can't see their legs. We had some really good rains this spring. I watched the regional weather all spring as I also drew an antelope near Casper. It looked to me that they had about as much as we did. I sure hope so. I hunted there last year and it was terribly dry. I'm planning on heading down that way in the next couple of weeks and do a little scouting.

I hunted area 70 last year with my dad and its was very dry, ended up filling our tags on a ranch since my dad can't do much walking. I will be hunting area 69 and 70 this year and plan on hiking into both areas in hopes of killing some public land antelope this year. We saw several good bucks in area 69 last year. Let me know what you see when you go scouting in a couple weeks.

In terms of moisture it's much better than last year. I have also seen lots of fawns that look healthy. Range conditions are undoubtedly still suffering from long-term persistent drought, but the antelope seem to be doing well despite that.

We didn't draw our tags so heading farther east to pronghorn hunt, but hearing better range conditions this year than either of the last 2. This year and one more mild winter and wet spring and things will be well on the road to a healthy recovery.
