    NV Indepence Range

Here are some pics off the blackberry I got while helping someone elk hunt in area 6. Had bulls bugling everywhere, got within 20 yards of a 380" bull but when he took off he never really presented a good shot opportunity. She shot anyways with her muzzleloader missing high.

They are heading back up tonight, hopefully they can find him again tomorrow morning. I will head back up tomorrow after work. Even though she shot, he didn't act like he was busted, kind of just trotted off with his 5 cows. Could possibly be in the same area, who knows.

Sat in this for a couple hours waiting for the fog to lift. It never did all day, glad I bailed off early.

Weather was a big factor, everything tree'd up. Didn't see anything for 2 days then I had to come back to work. The next morning they had a shot opportunity on a 350ish bull, but she wasn't patient. They got to within 85 yards or so of him bedded. When he stood up, he started to browse toward them, so it was clear that the bull didn't have a clue they were there. Sounds like she got nervous that he was going to run off, so she took a quartering to shot and missed.

They continued to hunt the area, even seeing the huge bull she had missed with me, but could never get on him. She ended up passing on a dink bull last day, figured she would wait the 5 years then apply again. She has been bitten by the elk fever bug!!! Wants to go to Idaho now with her dad.
