    Deserett Muzzleloader Elk

Is anyone hunting the muzzleloader season near Deserett? My uncle and cousin started hunting yesterday just outside of Deserett. Not sure what area though. Just wondering if anyone has had success near there yet?

It will be tough hunt with no snow to move the elk off Deseret and onto public. Only a few places in the open bull unit that border the private, creates a bit of a crowding problem! If the snow comes this weekend there may be more elk moving around, if no snow, it will be a tough hunt.

2 years ago my uncle killed a 5X5 after it had snowed. Last year they saw a lot of bulls, but nothing they could go after. They are hunting two weeks so hopefully the snow starts falling this weekend.

They saw a lot of elk but didn't get the weather to get them moved to accessible area.

That seems to be how the hunt went for quite a few people I talked to that had the muzzleloader tag.

Got to hear some details last night and they said they were on elk a lot. When the elk were spotted on public, it seemed like everyone knew it headed to them. My cousin pulled the hammer back once but just couldn't get the shot he needed. They had a good time and saw a lot of other game as well.
