I thought I remembered someone saying not too long ago that Justin transferred over toward Lander.

Or you could call the Casper office and ask to speak with him. He was promoted to a supervisor position awhile back...

Congrats on your new baby!!!!!! I have recently learned you can no longer hunt deer on the HMA in 89. IMO its really not worth the points for what you can hunt after loosing all the public land in the HMA.

Update: It appears that you can still hunt the public land in the HMA, you just cant access it through the private land in the HMA. It would be a good idea to talk to the regional office before applying though.

How would you characterize the higher ground along the Rattlesnake Hills? I drew elk unit 23 and kinda pictured it as heavily timbered, but some of these posts make it sound more like rolling sage.

It's pretty much the opposite of heavy timber. Sage, rock outcroppings, and scattered pines. You should look at Google Earth.

    HiMtnHntr,
Thanks for your post. I spent a little time poking around the NW corner of unit in 2011, was hoping the higher ground in SW area of unit would be more timbered.
Have you hunted 23? Any areas of unit that are more broken up, canyons maybe, to find them in?

I have not hunted elk there. You should check out the job completion report on the G&F website for that area. It offers some insight on elk movements there. The SW corner will offer the rougher country. I would also suggest calling the bio and warden for that area. There are private land issues with that area but plenty of public to hunt. Expect lots of open country.
