What a great thread and alot of good advice
Every backpack hunting trip is a trip of a life time even when things don't go per plan.
To be able to leave your every day life and( live the dream) depending only on our selfs to survive in the wilderness and in hopes to harvest is one of the coolest things i can think of. And good advice from orthers in there trials and tribulations can go a long way to better your trip thanks guys for all the good info.
    Here's my input.
#1 If you think your in good shape think again
    #2 Don't over pack
    #3 Electrolytes
    #4 Test your gear
#5 stick it out don't give up
#6 Sum way to call home your wife will be happy and you can now all is well back home.On one trip i bought a SPOT to send a message home that we where OK i told my wife every day i will send her a message well after 5 days i go to and send a message and my son says the light is not on my heart just dropped i realized that the last 5 days messages never went threw we got off the mountain and called home my wife was rounding up a search party to find us my ass was grass
Trying like hell to live the dream

Dustin, that's why we have always taken a satellite phone...keep the wife happy. Didn't hurt that it came in handy when my dad broke his leg. Never know??

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks baby wipes are a must.. Especially on pack trips!
