    Hey now Dave,

I believe that good-for-nothing Bitterroot Bulls and that good-for-even-less hunting partner of his offered to "tag along" anytime you needed on that hunt!

I love those pics, and love even more reading about how much fun you had on your hunt.

Back in 1983, before CO had preference points and it was just random draw, I took a nice 9 1/4 billy in the West Mount Evans district, west of Denver.

It was the easiest hunt ever, almost like shooting a cow, but the elevation was killer. I hung out at 13,000 feet and even though at that time I lived in Colorado Springs at 6,000 feet and was in great shape, I felt like a geriatric patient. I don't think I've gotten the pictures out of the album and onto the computer or I would post it.

At that time, the odds were 1 in 17 and I drew the first year I was a resident. At the mandatory orientation meeting everyone around me was talking about how many years they put in - 10, 15, 20...I just kept moving so I wouldn't have to say. I'm not sure I would have lived to tell it.

I have a lot buddies that have drawn goat tags in Montana but I haven't been lucky enough. I have 9 points and expect to get another point this year. Draw odds are about 2% where I put in.

I would venture that mtn goat hunts are probably not much harder than a moose hunt. The difficulty is in getting to the goats / getting out a moose. Two totally different problems well worth having!

I've done the moose thing (cow hunt). Hopefully someday I'll get a chance at mtn. goats.
