I've got an ascent, love it it's a great sight. I have 3 .019 pins and a .010 floater and they are all nice and bright, in the daylight the shell covering the fibers darkens to prevent it from being too bright, then as it darkens it clears up and let's more light in.

I shoot the Hanes SDP also....and I do the same thing with the ends except I just use a Bic lighter. Strike the lighter away from the pin and then move the lighter to the pin slowly, once you are around 4 inches away with the flame it will heat up and mushroom (depending on your flame size). It doesn't take much. And as said before, only do the end your are looking at.

Just ordered my MBG Ascent last week. It should be here Monday. I also had great customer service from Rick @ nolanoutdoors.com.

can't go wrong with either. I shot spot hogg last year. I am looking to cut the weight of my sight this year so I went with the Black Gold Ascent Ambush! I love me single pin driver sights.

I am using the MBG Vengeance with Big Dog Gaurd and 7 .019 pins and love it. I decided to go with the big dog guard so that it doesn't look like all my pins are crammed into the pin guard which makes a difference IMO when looking at an animal at further distances. I like how it gives me a bigger field of view.

take your .10 pins, use a flat piece of metal heated up and melt the tips of the fiber optics flatter. (Clarify here the tips you view, not the tips inside the wrap) Makes a bigger brighter dot. When you dont need it so big, cut it off for 3D shoots back to smaller pins.

easy fix, plenty of fiber there to do this often and get the best of both worlds in one site.
Thanks for the tip. I'm going to have to try it out.
