Yes, many of us have been doing that for years. It's not cheating, the application system online allows you to do that and the license you buy is good for 365 days.

If you draw on a year your license has expired you will need a new license to hunt.

You betcha. I normally apply after Feb 28 so I know I will have the Wyoming elk results before I have to apply in Utah.

I put in for points only this year. This is only my second year getting points for Limited Entry hunts so I'm not planning on trying to draw for another few years. Hopefully will get out in a general area in the next couple of years though. I love the fact that the license is 365 days. Last year was a little expensive to apply, but the wife didn't even blink this year when I told her how much I would be spending.
Now therefore, please take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me.

If you draw on a year your license has expired you will need a new license to hunt.
Actually you don't have to buy a new one. Page 11 of the regulations states this:
As long as your license is valid on the date you submit your application, you don’t have to purchase a new license for the actual hunt. For example, assume that your license expires on June 28, 2014. If you apply before that date, you do not have to purchase a new license for your hunt in the fall.

I have almost no chance at the archery tag i put in for in the henry mountains and i am already anxious about the results. Anxiety is building up while i make a last min decision about Wyoming and wait for Idaho
