Winter kill in the northern Bighorns?

Eastmans is reporting significant mule deer winter kill in parts of Wyoming and other nearby states. Does anyone have any winter kill info for the northern Bighorn Mtns. west of Dayton or Sheridan?

I would not think that the eastern side of Wyoming would be as bad as the west. Most animals winter on the low lands off the mountain. Although the valley had a larger amount of snow then usual too. The Mountains are still covered in snow. Bald Mountain still says 95 Inches of snow. Bear Lodge is still at 50 inches. I leave a camper at bear every winter and it was supposed to be out last month. But it wont be coming out for at least another month. A lot of snow this year for sure.

Thanks for the info WYrider. We had a prolonged winter here in Wisconsin as well. I'm very familiar with the Bear Lodge as we fuel and water up there every year on our way in. We've applied for mule deer tags again this year and are anxiously awaiting draw results. One of my favorite hunts is for mountain mule deer.

I hope the winterkill in the Bighorns isn't too bad, that's where my buddy and I plan on hunting this fall! It will be our first trip to WY and we have region Y as our second choice, which I expect to draw. If anyone has hunted there and has any advice for us, I would be happy to hear it.

NDHunter, I'm sure this isn't any earth shattering advice, but here goes. There are a lot of hunters in Region Y and there's lots of roads, so my best advice is to get away from the roads. Be willing to walk in a ways to get away from the masses.
