I carry one Buck knife with S30V steel, holds the edge really well. I carry the Outdoor Edge SwingBlade as well. I also take the Havalon with, but the thin blades concerns me a little so I have only used it once. I did see Outdoor Edge as their version of the Havalon, the Razor-Lite. Buddy bought this knife and used it on the skull of his bull for a European mount. Much more sturdy of a knife. I also carry Smith's Pocket Pal to sharpen when needed.

This is what I took to Wy for antelope. 4 guys used it and everyone like it.

I liked it so much it stays in the kitchen now and I bought this for my hunting kit. It has a whistle, led light, and fire starter for hardly any weight.

I bought both things at walmart.

I like that yellow Smith's sharpener, going have to check my local Wally World to see if they have one. Thanks Jason, I was in need of a second Smith's pocket sharpener.

I carry the Havalon and a very light bone saw. I'm glad for the new, thicker Havalon blades.

I have the Smith's Pocket Sharpener it's very handy, light weight tool to keep your blades sharp at home or away. Also has a fire starter rod

What is your method of caping around the antlers? Some of you say u just use a havalon,I don't think that would work very well. I use a screw driver at home but then use a fixed blade in the field.

Havelons don't work well around the horns cause they don't take any torque well. I use the Alaska knives capers in the field. At home, I cut around the bases with knife (after y-ing up the peticle) and use a strait blade screwdriver to pry hide down away from horn then cut around. Same process in the field except you dull one of the knives doing the prying.
