Wyoming Antelope Unit Questions (different hunts within unit)

Whats up guys. This is my first year applying in Wyoming, and I have been doing a bunch of research into different units to decide where to apply for Antelope. One thing that I still do not fully understand is the difference between hunt type 1 and hunt type 2 in the same unit. I noticed that sometimes they have different start dates, but other times they have the same exact season dates. My question is, how/where can I read/find out about what the differences are between a type 1 hunt and a type 2 hunt in a particular unit. I have tried to finding this information on the Wyoming Game and Fish website, but have not found it anywhere. Thanks a lot.

You will want to look here. http://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/HUNTING-1000179.aspx Go down to #5, "antelope seasons". You have to look at the specific units regs to see what the difference is. Type 1 and 2 can be different in different units. Generally 1 and 2 are buck or any antelope and 6 are doe fawn hunts.

Thanks for the info. I was particularly looking at Unit 48, but the descriptions don't seem to be any different within that Unit. Does that mean that the only different between Type 1 and Type 2 in that Unit are the hunt dates, but the areas you can hunt and the weapons you can use are exactly the same? Thanks so much for the help.

The only difference I see for that hunt is the date the season opens.

The only difference is the start dates for the hunt. In other areas, type 2 licenses are only good for a certain portion of the area. For example, in areas where antelope congregate in higher numbers later in the season, they might create a type 2 to harvest more antelope in specific areas, especially where they negatively affect ranchers.

Not all of them are earlier. Some of them are later. Some of them have special regulation pertaining to where you can hunt, but not all of them. It just depends on the area.

***Yep! Some are making this a lot harder than it really is! All you have to do is go right down through the list for each unit and it tells you exactly what type tags are available and exactly what they're good for (opening date, area where it's useable, etc.). To know the closing dates you can get a good idea by simply highlighting "HUNTING" on the main G&F page and then clicking on the Final Regulations section that shows all the 2013 seasons. This year should be the same or close to last years in almost all instances.

There is no standard for Type 2 or any type for that matter and each type can be much different from unit to unit. That is why I suggested looking at the regs for each specific unit.
