    boots, boots and more boots!

I just read through the previous thread on Mountain boots and didn't see much on my question so thought I'd try another angle. Has anyone tried the Danner Mountain boots such as the full curl or the mountain assualt? I wear danners for work and love the boots, but wasn't sure how this style holds up to the competition. Any help would be appreciated to help make my decision before I unload the cash on boots.

Yeah that could be very possible. I bought a new pair of Danner's in Nov and had to send them back by Feb because the sole was pealing off already. No questions asked though. I didn't know they had mountain boots until the other day so just wanted to check.

I personally have never owned a pair of Danner boots, but I have read a lot of negative reviews about certain models of Danner boots leaking and coming apart. I think they have some high end models that get good reviews, however.

    Good Luck

I bought a pair of Danner Pronghorns from Lathrop and Sons with the Synergy footbeds package, and have had nothing but good to say about them. I put a good coat of Mink Oil on them and they stayed waterproof for me, even through some creek crossings. Maybe I just got lucky and got a good pair?

I cant speak for danner products, but after years of buying less expensive boots I broke down and bought a pair of Meindl Denalis. 100% worth the money imo. Ive got a lot of use out of them over the past 2 years and they are still as sturdy and waterproof as the day I bought them.

I had good luck with them in the past, but now that I have gone to the high end boots I won't ever go back.

I've talked to some expert boot care guys and they backed up the fact that Danner has cheapened up their boots over the years. Too bad, too because they used to be really good. I've had a lot of luck with the higher end brands now like Kenetrek, Lowa, Zamberlan, and Crispi. I've never tried Meindl, but have always heard great things about them.

I know a guy that went through four pairs of Danners in the same amount of time that he wore out only one pair of Hanwags. Stepping up the higher level of boots is definitely worth it in the long run.

I have the same setup... My feet get wet.
