Is the 30-338 a factory caliber? I always thought it was a wild cat? Its nearly identical to the 308 Norma isnt it?

MM it is not a factory caliber. It was the original 300 win till Norma beat them to it

For an oddball caliber with a ton of available brass to resize, the 338-06 is a nifty little thing that'll reach out there.

MM there is a little difference in cases. I take 338 win mag cases and neck them down.

Seems great on paper. I have a .300 wsm and like it. I'd be afraid of the caliber being discontinued.

But then you would get to do cool stuff like make 325 brass out of 300 brass

A .325 wsm is plenty for elk,its all about shot placement!!this round will knock 'um' down everytime,if you place your shot! Just like bowhunting.pick a spot ,and follow through is a must! The .338 is a big boy,and kicks like a mule.
