    I have never seen this before, I have seen hunters shoot racks off with a rifle but never stick an arrown the rack.!

    Couldn't tell the distance he was shooting, but with that high crosswind he probably shouldn't have even attempted it. Missing the vitals that far was either caused by the high wind or a deflection off the brush, neither of which is good.

    I'm thinking he was concentrating on the antlers, and not on a spot. Bummer.

    If you look at the weird angle the arrow is sticking in the rack (nearly straight up when the buck gets up), the buck was probably sleeping with his rack leaned over covering its vitals. He probably thought he could sneak an arrow in. That's my best guess anyways.

    That makes the most sense. It would take a huge wind gust and pulling the shot bad to get it into the antler. That angle the arrow went in would be from laying down looking at him imo

    Good call. I guess an arrow in the antler is better than an arrow in the jaw.

    Questionable shot, at best.

    See, you can tell by the ballistic gel results, that the arrow tumbled in flight, resulting in a direct hit to the antler.
