I was in the Grand Junction Parks & Wildlife office last fall to pick up a cow tag and the girl told me there had been a 400+" bull taken up there in unit 61, she thought with a muzzleloader (she wasn't 100% sure on the weapon though, but she WAS sure on the 400" figure). Although living in GJ, that is practically my backyard, I've never spent any time up in that unit 61/62 country.

Good luck UH!!! We're all rooting for ya! My uncle drew too. He had 15 resident points. Wondering if I should turn my tag back in and hunt with him? Probably not... I'll be hunting bear in 61 in September then back for the first rifle season to take a young kid on his first cow elk hunt. Then back again second season for the annual family hunt.

Congrats UH. Have had my eye on that unit for 9 years but had to let it go. Was not going to catch it. Can't wait to see and hear how you do. Again congratulations!

Congrats UH!! I have been in the point chasing game myself, up to 17 resident points now. I was also thinking of burning them on 61 but decided to keep after unit 2. I went with my dad when he had a license in 61 a few years back, saw lots of elk. Definitely keep us posted!!

Congrats on the great draw! I hunted 61 back in 2006 for Mule Deer with a cow elk tag for a backup. Scored on the cow but could not locate a shootable buck and ate the tag. During the muzzleloader hunt I was tripping over bull after bull. I don't need to tell you not to shoot a small bull. 360 or larger is doable. Jeez, good luck!

Congrats UH. I hope you nail a giant!! I drew an Area 61, 4th season, leftover cow tag this year. Figured I'd get in there and learn the area some since I too hope to draw it for bulls someday. How many points did you have when you were drawn this year?
