    Places To Buy Dry Ice

    If you are like me, I like to get my meat processed on out of state hunts then carry it home with dry ice. Finding dry ice can sometimes be a problem though.

    We are on a fishing trip and needed dry ice to keep the Snake River catfish fillets frozen while moving to Lake Powell for stripers. I was looking for a place that sold dry ice and found this website. It has a search feature and shows where "Penguin Brand" dry ice is sold and looks pretty helpful:

    If you broaden the search radius, you can scan down the highway/interstate you will be traveling to see who carries their product.

    If you have any resources of how to find dry ice when on the road, please post them up here.

    Many grocery stores will get it in occasionally but I have the same issue finding it most of the time. Thanks for posting UH.

    You can order Omaha Steaks. They always come packed on dry ice...lol.

    I used to hunt a PLM in Covelo in August. One year it was 115 degrees on the opener. We used dry ice and it worked perfectly. On day three of our trip I suprised everyone in camp with popsicles. Everything stayed frozen solid for a week. Just be careful, as it gets so cold that it will crack a plastic ice chest. I wrapped it in a towel so it didn't touch the sides.

    Most decent sized towns usually have 1 place that has it. I usually just stop at a grocery store and ask where I can find it.

    You might pay a little more but most medical supply places have dry ice for sale.

    If you keep it wrapped in a brown paper bag it will protect your ice chest and the ice will last much longer. I usually fold the paper bad over several times to try to seal it and then staple it. Then place that in another bag and it will keep in a closed cooler for a week or so depending on how much you have.

    Perfect. Where I am headed in CO there is two places in town that have dry ice, but by the end of season they usually run out. Now maybe I can have a back-up plan.

    I usually use freezer paper and if the meat is already frozen and packed will put a towel down between it and the ice. I;ve found that Safeway rarely has it and that results in finding the closest Wally World.

    I've usually found it at walmart and pick it up while on the trip out. All the game processors I've used out there have dry ice as well. Dry ice is definitely worth the money compared to h20 ice.
