Getting ready for elk season for first time. Hiked our highest peak in 64 minutes, 3.44 miles and over 1000 ft of elevation gain. Going tomorrow to do the 6 mile trip up.

Thanks. Little over 60 days to go. Planning on hiking this peak every week on top of the normal cardio workouts.

That will do it. Are you training in the same elevation you will be hunting in?

Harney peak is a good hike. I like to go cross country and stay away from all the people.

I'm about 3k feet short. Planning on being around 10k feet for hunt. Hiking 12 miles a week at 7000 ft and spending 3 days in July scouting and hiking my unit in Colorado. Hiking now with 25 lb pack and will be up to 75 lb pack in a month without any further complications liked a sprained ankle again.

You will be in great shape for sure. Good luck on your hunt and take lots of photos with a camera and not your cell phone.
